Portagers drop 2

LAKE CITY — The Onekama softball team dropped a pair of one-run decisions in its opening series of the season against Lake City, losing the opener 4-3 and the nightcap 7-6. Brooke Sedelmaier pitched both games for the Portagers (0-2) and finished with 10 strikeouts, while also going 4-for-6 at the plate — all extra-base hits — with two RBIs.

“Overall, I was real happy with how the girls played,” said Onekama coach Phil Sedelmaier. “We were playing shorthanded, and not having our second pitcher hurt us.”

In the first game, Jennica Mathieu went 1-for-3 with two RBIs while Elizabeth Bergen and Katie Prielipp each had a hit.  Nicole Slater went 2-for-3 in the nightcap with an RBI.
