Portagers split  with Bears

BUCKLEY  — The Onekama softball team split a non-league doubleheader with Buckley on Thursday.

The Portagers (3-9) lost the opener, 10-8, before taking the nightcap by mercy rule in five innings, 15-3.

In the first game, Brooke Sedelmaier pitched for the Portagers and allowed six hits to go with four strikeouts.
 

Sherece Revolt had a triple and drove in two runs while Diamond Kimpel went 1-for-3.

In the nightcap, Sedelmaier allowed three hits to go with three strikeouts, while also going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Nikki Slater and Jennica Mathieu each had a hit and drove in a run while Katie Prielipp and Revolt both had a hit.

“We had a few errors that probably cost us the first game,” said Onekama coach Phil Sedelmaier. “We buckled down the second game and played much better.”
