Portagers get first wins
WALKERVILLE — Onekama picked up its first wins of the season Monday as the Portagers swept a doubleheader against Walkerville, winning 21-4 in the opener and 18-0 in the nightcap.

“We needed that one bad,” said Onekama coach Phil Sedelmaier. “The girls played really well.”

In the opener, junior Brooke Sedelmaier pitched all three innings, striking out seven batters while giving up just a pair of hits.

At the plate for the Portagers (2-8, 2-2 WMD), Jennica Mathieu went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and later scored two runs while Nicole Slater went 1-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Sedelmaier got the start in the nightcap as well, and pitched a no-hitter in three innings, tallying six strikeouts.

Onekama’s Ashley Schultz went 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBIs and three runs scored while Diamond Kimpel went 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs and two runs scored.
