BALDWIN — After two straight losses, Onekama found its way back into the win column after beating Baldwin Tuesday, 65-33.

“We came out firing right away,” Portagers coach Nathan Bradford said. “We played some tough defense and boxed out and rebounded a lot better than we have.

“We worked the ball around and the turnovers were down, so all-in-all we played a pretty good game.”

Taylor Hagen led the Portagers with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Jennica Mathieu had 11 points, 11 rebounds, and five steals, Jaylee Brown scored 11 points with four steals, Sherece Revolt added nine points, Diamond Kimpel scored seven, Lexi Howard had four, Ashley DeRooy added three, and Katie Prielipp chipped in one point to go along with four steals and three assists.

Onekama (4-2, 4-1 WMD) scored 15 points apiece in the first two quarters while holding the Panthers (2-4, 2-2 WMD) to just nine in the first half before extending the margin down the stretch.

The Onekama junior varsity team beat the Panthers 52-25. The Portagers’ Lindsay Nesburg led the way with 28 points while Danielle Ward and Nicki Slater each had 10.
