BALDWIN — Onekama picked up its second win
of the season Thursday night with a 54-45 West Michigan D League win
over Baldwin.
“It was a wild game,” Portagers coach Roger Smith said. “It was really
physical — a lot of fouls, a lot of bodies flying, but our kids kept our
composure and played well. I was really pleased with their effort.” |
Joe Kosiboski led the Portagers (2-5, 2-4 WMD)
with 18 points, seven rebounds and four steals while Jake Matthews had
nine points, four steals and eight assists, Thomas Koon had eight
points, five steals and six assists, Bryce Reckow and Skyler Kimpel each
scored six, Tanner Kott scored five and Matt Monroe added two.
The Portagers held a 14-9 advantage over the Panthers (1-10, 1-6 WMD) at
the end of the opening quarter and went into halftime up 20-15. The
Portagers scored 19 points in the third to head into the fourth with a
39-28 lead which they secured down the stretch.
The Onekama junior varsity team rolled to a
58-26 win over Baldwin as the Portagers were led by Quinn Matthews with
16 points. |
