Shorthanded Portagers fall

ONEKAMA — With three of its players out with the flu, Onekama couldn’t muster enough scoring power Monday night as the Portagers fell to Pentwater, 45-39.

“I thought these kids did a pretty nice job for all the sickness we had,” Onekama coach Roger Smith said of the absence of seniors Jordon Zupin and Thomas Koon and junior Skyler Kimpel. “We hung in there and played hard, we just couldn’t do it in the end.”

Onekama’s Joe Kosiboski paced the Portagers (1-4, 1-4 WMD) with a game-high 21 points to go along with eight rebounds and two steals.
