Next on the radar was perfection.
The Portagers accomplished that task Wednesday by sweeping a doubleheader against Pentwater to wind up the league schedule and finish with an unblemished 14-0 record.
Onekama, who is 18-10 overall, rolled to a 28-1 win in the opener in four innings, before finishing the nightcap with a 19-4 victory in three.
“We
got off to a great start in that
first game and things kept going our
way,” said Onekama coach John Neph.
“(Finishing the league without a
loss) was one of our goals this
week. We wanted to get that done if
we could, and we got it done.”
In the opener, Onekama’s Thomas Koon
picked up the win while pitching
three innings, giving up just three
hits to go with three strikeouts.
Nathan Fitch finished the game in
the fourth with two strikeouts.
