WALKERVILLE — Onekama teed off on Walkerville Monday, sweeping its West Michigan D League doubleheader with a pair of 3-inning shutouts.

The Portagers dominated the opener with a 35-0 victory before their 20-0 triumph in the nightcap.

“We put the ball in play, did some good things defensively and pitched really well,” Onekama coach John Neph said.

Leading the Portagers (7-5, 4-0 WMD) at the plate in opener was Thomas Koon who batted 5-for-5 while teammate Joe Kosiboski went 4-for-4.

Koon also got the start on the mound, and in the three innings, allowed just one hit while tallying nine strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Kosiboski pitched a no-hitter while walking two batters and striking out six in three innings.

At the plate, Koon and Danny Gillespie each went 3-for-3, Kosiboski had two triples with four RBIs, and Alex Block, Joe Eno, and Bryce Reckow all had two hits apiece.
