Classroom and Shop Policies

for Room 319 and the Shop

Mr. Foster, Shop Teacher

All of us desire a safe, clean, orderly environment in which to explore, learn and grow to our full potential. Adult privileges such as working in the shop can only be earned by demonstrating adult attitudes, behavior and responsibility.

1.                Nobody has the right to violate another person physically or verbally. We all want a safe environment so we can enjoy learning together.

2.                Be in the classroom when the 2nd bell rings or you are tardy. Your lateness holds up the others in the class and wastes their time.

3.                No horseplay or messing around with other students, with wood or other materials, or with the classroom/shop furniture and equipment. Someone gets hurt and/or something gets damaged so we no longer feel safe.

4.                Profanity, swearing, vulgarities, or sexual references will NOT be tolerated. Such language makes others uncomfortable, may offend them and may be a criminal offense under laws dealing with sexual harassment.

5.                Any cell phone, Ipod, mp3 player, or similar device being used in the classroom or shop will be confiscated and taken to the office. Your full attention is needed in both settings for your safety and that of others, as well as not wasting others’ time because instructions were not heard when given.

6.                The classroom phone is not to be used by students. Please use the Student Services Office phone if you must make a call during school hours. This is a school rule.

7.                The Hall Pass must be signed out when you leave and back in when you return or Hall Pass privileges will be lost. Your teacher is charged with the responsibility of knowing where you are at all times when in his class.

8.                If you choose to go to RTC or skip class the day of a test or quiz, credit for that test or quiz is forfeited. Your choice does not make it right for you to delay class progress or take up more of the teacher’s time than he has already spent on you.

9.                A pencil is required for class and shop each day! Bring one!
