ONEKAMA -- Four Onekama School middle school students recently had the opportunity to take part in the MSOBA Honors Band held at Shelby High High School.

Those band members from Onekama taking part were seventh grade student Kayla Feil and eighth grade students Claire Harvey, Sierra Warner and Emily Hippensteel.  The girls spent the whole day practicing in preparation for a concert that evening that was directed by Penny Dabb-Cushway. The event was hosted by Shelby Director of Bands Curt Isakson. The Onekama School band students are under the direction of Kathy Joseph who assisted the students in preparing for the concert. ~Manistee News Advocate

Students who earn a first division rating on a solo in the fall middle school solo & ensemble festival are eligible for the District Middle School Honors Band in Shelby.   The students rehearse together all day and play a concert in the evening.     Emily Hippensteel, Kayla Feil, Claire Harvey, and Sierra Warner were involved in this yesterday. ~Mrs. Joseph
