ONEKAMA -- Twenty-six students from the Class of 2010 at Onekama High School will have the distinct honor of being the first graduating class to hold commencement ceremonies at the school’s new gymnasium on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Superintendent Kevin Hughes will greet the graduates and those in attendance at Sunday’s ceremony with some opening remarks. Prior to that welcome, the graduates will march into the gymnasium to the music provided by the Onekama High School Band under the direction of Kathy Joseph.

Hughes will then introduce Daniel Gillespie to deliver the salutatorian address. During his time at Onekama High School, Gillespie was active in football and baseball during his time at Onekama High School.

A musical interlude by the Onekama High School Band will follow that slide show. The musical interlude will give the graduates in the band one last opportunity to perform as students at Onekama High School.

Board members Robert Evans, Kathleen Bowers, Leslie Acton, Dennis Zupin, Thomas McCraner and Karl Domres have approved them meeting those requirements.
