The
Portagers had a great day at the Northport Invitational
Saturday. The Portagers came away with the plaque as pool play
champions with a 7-3 record, defeating tournament champion
Northport in 2 straight games handing the Wildcats their only
loses in the tournament. Playing the tournament short handed
with only 7 girls, the Portagers played very hard before losing
in the semi-finals in a tie breaker match to Bear lake 15-13,
after having defeated the Lakers in 2 straight in pool play. "
It was a very warm and muggy day in Northport and inside the gym
was very hot. |
The girls
played extremely hard but we just ran out of gas at the end. I am so
very proud of the girls as each and every one of them performed very
well. When you are short handed it is very demanding to play back to
back to back games with out a break (both physically and mentally) and
our team did an outstanding job of working together and supporting each
other. Because of that our entire tournament team of Paige, Chelsea,
Tabitha, Stacey, Olivia, Erin, and Sherece were awarded
the teams MVP of the tournament." ~Coach Keith
