Onekama sweeps Walkerville

WALKERVILLE — The Onekama High School
softball team picked up its first wins in the West Michigan D League
with a pair of mercy-rule victories for a sweep against Walkerville.
In the opener, Onekama pitcher Chelsea
Miller threw a one-hit shutout and went 2-3 at the plate. Also for the
Portagers, Nichole Slater and Brooke Sedelmaier both went 2-3 with two
RBIs, while Sherece Revolt had a pair of hits.

The Portagers (7-8-1, 2-2) won the first
game, 11-0, and the nightcap, 22-4.
In the second game, Brooke Sedelmaier pitched her first complete game
for Onekama, allowing just three hits to go with two strikeouts. She
also drove in three runs at the plate.
Slater went 5-5 with three RBIs, while Paige
Rutowski went 3-4 and drove in three runs.
The Portagers committed only one error in the
doubleheader.
“Defensively, we played very solid for not
playing in 11 days,” said Onekama coach Phil Sedelmaier.
