FRANKFORT — The Onekama High School
softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Frankfort
Thursday.
The Panthers won the first game, 8-4, and took the nightcap, 23-10.
The Portagers (2-6) had three hits in the first game. Brooke Sedelmaier
had a double and two RBIs, Paige Rutowski had a double and drove in a
run and Nikki Slater had a hit.
In the second game, Onekama jumped out to a 6-2 lead after the second
inning, but Frankfort exploded for 12 runs in the fourth inning on 10
hits, including a pair of home runs.
“In the fourth inning, the wheels just came off,” said Onekama coach
Phil Sedelmaier.
Brooke Sedelmaier went 3-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs, Katie
Prielipp went 2-3 with an RBI, Ambir Parmelee went 2-2 with a home run
and Ashley Schultz went 2-3.
Chelsea Miller pitched the first game for the Onekama and started the
second before Brooke Sedelmaier entered in relief.
Although the Portagers have lost six straight games, their coach isn’t
disappointed.
“Overall, I’m really happy with the girls’ play,” Sedelmaier said.
“We’ve played some pretty good teams. We’re probably one of the best 2-6
teams in the state.”
