Onekama
drops 2 to Benzie
ONEKAMA — The Onekama High School softball team dropped both games of a
doubleheader against Benzie Central Monday.
The Huskies won the opener, 7-0, and the nightcap, 14-8.
After winning both its opening games of the season, the Portagers (2-4)
have dropped four straight.
“It just sort of carried over,” Onekama coach Phil Sedelmaier said of a
pair of losses to Mesick Thursday.
In the first game, Onekama managed just two hits, as Jennica Mathieu and
Katie Prielipp each had one. |
The Huskies opened the nightcap with five
runs in the first inning and had a 14-3 lead in the third before the
Portagers scored five more.
“Our bats finally came alive, but we dug ourselves too big of a hole,”
Sedelmaier said.
Paige Rutowski and Diamond Kimpel led Onekama at the plate with a pair
of hits each.
Chelsea Miller again pitched both games for the Portagers.
“Her arm is about to fall off,” Sedelmaier said with a laugh. “She’s
doing a great job for us.” From
