Onekama's
J. V. team defeated
M. C. C.   35-21

Game 5

January 5, 2009

The JV Lady Portagers welcomed the MCC Sabers for their second meeting of the season.  The Portagers played a substitute game with the Sabers due to Pentwater not having a JV program.  The game proved to be yet another tough match-up, but the Portagers took the lead right away and never looked back.  The game ended with a Portager win and a score of 35-21.  The win brings the JV Portagers’ record to an unblemished 5-0.

Jaylee Brown led the Portagers in scoring with 10 points.  Lexi Howard was next with 7 points and Emily Pomeroy finished close with 6 points.  Teammates Danielle Ward and Brooke Sedelmaier finished with 4 points while Ashley DeRooy and Nicki Slater each ended with 2 points.

A balanced offensive and defensive game plan brought another win to start off the new year for the Portagers.  Defensively, Lexi and Ashley led the way with 7 rebounds each.  Danielle added 4 boards while Brooke finished with 3.  Nicki and Emily ended the game with 2 rebounds each.  Jaylee pulled down 1 rebound and led the team with 6 steals.

The JV Lady Portagers welcome the MCE JV team on Thursday, January 8, 2009, due to Baldwin not having a JV team.  The Portagers look to improve to a 6-0 record.  Go Portagers!
