Onekama @ Manistee Catholic Central – Game 9

The JV Lady Portagers traveled to MCC for their third meeting of the season.  The Portagers had already beat MCC twice, but this would prove to be a stronger adversary than in the previous meetings.  It was a close game throughout with the Sabers up 22-21 at the end of the third quarter.  Unfortunately, the Sabers were able to take a strong lead in the forth and the Portagers fell by a score of 24-34.

The girls played a hard game, but turnovers and trouble shooting kept them from getting ahead and closing the game in our favor.  Unfortunately, this loss is the first conference loss for the JV team.

Lexi Howard led the team in scoring with 10 points.  Emily Pomeroy and Lindsay Nesburg followed with 5 points each.  Danielle Ward added 3 points, while Brooke Sedelmaier finished with 1.

Danielle played another strong defensive game with 14 rebounds and 1 steal.  Lexi also played a good defensive game pulling down 8 boards.  Ashley DeRooy led the team in steals with 4.

The JV Lady Portagers welcome Walkerville for their second meeting on Tuesday, January 27, 2009.  The Portagers look to bounce back from their heartbreaking loss and move forward with their eighth win of the season.  Go Portagers!
