Portagers Win
in a Rout

WALKERVILLE — Matt Wenzel Manistee News Advocate  The Onekama girls’ basketball team routed Walkerville Thursday night, 62-29.

Taylor Hagen led the Portagers (2-1, 2-1) with 18 points and six steals, Jennica Mathieu chipped in nine points and four steals, Chelsea Miller added eight points and 10 rebounds.

The Portagers pulled out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. By halftime, Walkerville was down 31-16, and the Portagers just kept increasing their lead from there. At the end of the third quarter, they were up 50-22, and pulled out 12 more points in the fourth quarter for the final score of 62-29.

Also for Onekama, Paige Rutowski scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds, Olivia Bolthouse scored six, Sherece Revolt  five, Stacey Keith four, and Katie Prielipp and Diamond Kimpel had two apiece.
