Another Onekama JV Win

Onekama @ Walkerville – Game 3

The JV Lady Portagers traveled to Walkerville looking for their third win of the season.  The Portagers started out with a 14-1 run to end the first period.  Their strong defense finished the half with a score of 20-6.  Walkerville started coming back in the third period which ended with a score of 25-12.  The Portagers stuck together and pulled out the win with the final score of 32-25.  Fouls became an issue early in the game and some defensive changes were made to compensate.  The Portagers played through several different issues thrown at them, but all stepped up and played on to the win.

Leading the Portagers in scoring was Jaylee Brown with 13 points.  Emily Pomeroy was next with 12 points.  Other Portager scorers were Danielle Ward with 5 and Nicki Slater with 2.

On the defensive side Ashley DeRooy led the team with 7 rebounds and 5 steals.  Danielle was pulled down 5 rebounds and had 4 steals.  Brooke Sedelmaier grabbed 4 rebounds and had 1 steal.  Emily added 3 boards with 9 steals and Jaylee had 2 rebounds with 11 steals.  Nicki finished with 1 rebound on the night.

Teamwork and defense brought the JV Lady Portagers to a 3-0 record.  They look to continue their success when they travel to Bear Lake on Tuesday, December 16, 2008.  Go Portagers!
