Tops St. Mary’s ONEKAMA —

The Onekama boys basketball team gave its fans something to cheer about
by defeating Lake Leelanau St. Mary, 63-51, in their home finale Friday
night.
Senior Levi Capper finished his home court
high school career by leading the Portagers, scoring 22 points, getting
seven rebounds and chipping in four assists.
Skylar Kimpel added 12 points, eight
rebounds and three steals, while Joe Kosiboski chipped in 10 points and
nine rebounds, Ryan Miller netted eight points and nine rebounds. |
Adrian Norman scored six and seniors Hunter
Slade and Lucas Porter scored three and two respectively.
"It was another tight game for three
quarters,” said Portager coach Roger Smith, noting that his team was
down by one going into the fourth quarter.
“We came through in the fourth,” he said.
The Portagers went on a 20-7 run to win the game, 63-51.
Smith added that the game was won from the
charity stripe, where the Portagers were 22-31. “That helped us,” he
said. “That’s what won it.
“It was a good win for the seniors.” |
