Lucas Porter Becomes
Eagle Scout
Lucas Porter, son of
Laurie and Robert Porter of Bear Lake, was awarded Eagle
Scout status on Jan. 17, 2009.
Porter is a member of Boy
Scouts Troop #63, sponsored by the Onekama Lions Club.
He was also previously presented with the Arrow of Light
and Order of Arrow awards.
He has attend various Boy
Scouts of America events including Camp Grelick in
Traverse City, Pilmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico,
National Youth Leadership Training in Traverse City, and
several Boy Scout camporees.
Porters has held the
positions of Senior Patrol Leader, Chaplin Aide and
Junior Assistant Scout Master in his Troop.
For his Eagle Scout project,
Porter constructed a raised flower bed at St. Raphael’s
Church in Copemish. He also provided landscaping around
the church grounds.
Porter is a senior at Onekama Consolidated Schools,
where he plays varsity basketball, and is a member of
the Quiz Bowl team. |
The
location and date of the Eagle Scout Award Court of
Honor ceremony for Porter will be announced at a
later date.
