Portagers Tie One and Win One

The weather on Friday was miserable but the spirits were high. We had a couple rain delays right away in the first game and the gals were begging and pleading to let them back on the field.  It was good to get our first game of the year in finally; that gym just gets smaller and smaller as the year goes on.  We played to a 7-7 tie in the opener, which we saw some pretty good defense being played by our gals.  Chelsea Miller came in to pitch for us and did an outstanding job for it being her first time on the mound.

In the second game our bats come to life and we won 13-7.  Chelsea picked up the win and Kailani Buckner came in and pitched very well for us the last couple innings.  Freshman Lexi Howard had a outstanding night at the plate going 5 for 5 on the night. Sherece Revolt had multiple hits as well as our first home-run of the season.  Lucy Lee, Sarah Eipperle and Chelsea also had multiple hits on the night.  I was very pleased with the progress the gals have shown on the field and expect some good things to happen this season.
