Portagers Drive and Putt To A Win Over Mason County Eastern
"(the)Team is struggling with shot
making following the long winter layoff", states Coach Zadow. I
have worked with Coach Zadow enough years to know that she never
makes excuses for her team. She states cold, hard, accurate facts,
whether they be good or bad. This is why we can see such progress
in the team's play.
The Portagers secured the win today , despite getting rained on a
few times throughout the match. " Greens were long and a bit slow",
explained Coach. Our team went on to take the match, 180 to MCE's
196, making the Portagers look ahead to still breaking 180 in their
young season.

Today's match was held at the County
Highlands. The Portagers kept the scoring tight to lock out MCE. Team
lowman was Levi Capper shooting 44. Drew Griswold, missing a really
short putt on the 18th, finished with 45. Freshman Brenner Johnson , not
to be out shot, carded 45 and Jake Matthews turned in a 46 to round out
the scoring four for the team effort of 180. Match medalist was MCE's
Chance Christmas shooting 43. Josh Cebula shot a 48 – his high
school golf career personal best score.
Having lost only one match to date, (by only two strokes) could
possibly be predicting another exciting season by our Golf team. Come
out and support them at their next match and at the very least , let
them know you are rooting for them when you see them around school.
Till next time, Hit them long and straight...
