On Saturday 10/27/07 which started out as a cool, windy, rainy morning turned out to be a cool and windy afternoon with temperatures in the upper 40’s by race time. Both our teams had a great afternoon with the Boys bringing home the Regional Championship Trophy, the first one for new head Coach Eric Ross, and the 7th straight year that the boys have won the Regional crown. Our Girls were only a step behind the boys taking 2nd place out of a field of nine teams. Our Girls Varsity Team got to the starting line for the the sound of the gun at 2:45 p.m. They were off and running to their 2nd place finish and a trip to the state finals. 1st Manton 48 pts., 2nd Bear Lake/Onekama 88 pts., 3rd Maple City/Glen Lake 96 pts., 4th MCE 97 pts., 5th Traverse City St. Francis 100 pts., The order of our finish for the girls is:

Our 9th State Rated boys they were off and running at 4:15 p.m. for the Regional Championship and a trip to the state finals. 1st place Bear Lake/Onekama 64 pts., 2nd Traverse City St. Francis 87 pts., 3rd Sutton Bay 98 pts., 4th Manton 99pts., 5th MCE 101 pts. The order of finish for the boys:
All seven runners for the boys received a 1st place Regional Medal along with the Regional trophy. Congratulations to Coach Eric Ross and the boys and girls on a great season and a trip coming up to the state finals. In the State Finals it will be the last race for Senior Jordan Maxey from Bear Lake and Senior Justin Zupin from Onekama.. Good luck Seniors! In Regionals the the first 15 runners to cross the finish line get a medal and automatic qualify for the state finals and the top 3 teams also qualify to go to state. ~Dennis Zupin, reporting |
