Last night the Onekama Softball team traveled to Buckley to take on the Bears, winning game one 6-2 but dropping the second game 9-6. In game one all the Portagers scoring came in the first 2 innings with some timely hitting from Katie Prelipp, Stephanie Ashworth and Kieran O’ Conner.
Stacey Keith shut down the Bears firing a 4 hitter behind some great defense by the Portagers . In game two the Portagers struggled in the field giving up 8 unearned runs in the first 2 innings digging themselves a big hole to climb out of falling behind 8-0 after 2 innings. However the Portagers kept battling back but falling just short in the final game. In the second game Stacey Keith, Stephanie Ashworth, Sherese Revolt, Kalani Buckner and Elizabeth Schoedel had keys RBI’s and Sarah Eipperlie made an outstanding defensive play in the outfield to keep the Portagers in the game. The Portagers for the season are 5-3 and travel to Walkerville to take on the Wildcats on Wednesday in WMD league action.
