Onekama Sports 2006-2007

Last night the young Portager Softball team lost both games in their season opener to Mesick, 12-2 and 18-7. Leading the offensive attack for the Portagers was Stacey Keith going 3-3 with 3 walks, 3 runs scored, 2 steals and an RBI. Freshman Katie Prielipp played an excellent game in her varsity debut with some outstanding fielding at second base and going 3-5 at the plate. Another Freshman Sherece Revolt shined in her first game batting 4-6 with 4 RBI’s and a triple and played a very fine game at shortstop.

Third baseman Kieran O’Conner was 2-4, Stephanie Ashworth added a 2-3 night with 2 RBI’s and her always solid play at first base. Chelsea Miller, Alyssa Cole, Diamond Kimble and Sara Eipperle all added a base hit. “ We have a very young team, several girls being the first time they have played softball in many years. For what we lack in experience we make up for in desire. This is a great bunch of young ladies who are very eager to learn”. We travel to MCE to take on the powerful Lady Cardinals Thursday. ...Coach Keith
