Once again all the schools in the Conference met for a golf Jamboree ,
with OHS going head to head with Walkerville and Baldwin. The matches
were held at Marquette Trails which is just South of Baldwin on Big Star
Lake. OHS easily swept the match with Walkerville on the front 9 with a
team score of 173 OHS to 233 Walkerville. Jordan and Drew both shot 42's
to be the match and team lowmen. Levi carded a 43, while Parker turned
in a 46 to wrap up the scoring four. Shooting, but no factor in this
match's score were Jake with a 47 and Zack with his 50. Lowmen for Walkerville today were Mike Fraser and Eric Fisher who both carded 55's. The OHS Team then went on to play on the Front 9 again against Baldwin, stopping Baldwin in their tracks with a final score of ,OHS 170 to Baldwin's 217. The back 9 was being aerated so play was confined to the front 9 only. During a match, Coach Zadow goes from hole to hole to check in with the players to hear their concerns on match play. She is quite used to hearing how bad they feel they are playing, such as they hit into the trees, are dubbing the shots, etc. Today, when she caught up with Levi, He too started voicing his concern about his play. However ,as she pulled away she found herself smiling, for Levi was shooting in the high 30's, a far cry from the usual concern of being 10 over! |
Levi was shooting 3 over....Levi "struggled" to a 41 to become lowman
for the match as well as lowman overall for the 2 matches played today.
Zack bettered his shooting by 8 strokes , logging in a 42 and Jordan
Pomeroy turned in a 43. Parker carded a 44 to round out the scoring four
,giving the team their best low score of the season, 170..... Also
shooting, but no factor in the score were Jake and Drew , who each shot
a 47. Lowman for Baldwin was Brian Bartram who shot a 49. These 2 wins now have OHS standing 5-0 Overall and 4-0 in the conference. Brethren/BearLake also won both of their matches today leaving these two teams still in a tie for 1st in the Conference. The Golf Gods must be watching! Are you?! Fire up , OHS, Fire up! The OHS Golf Team has...You can catch the next action, 8-30-06 at Briar which is just east of Mesick off of M115 . Tee off is 4pm for a 9 hole match against Mesick. *note* The Portagers were unable to field a team for the Lake City Invitational and did not attend this year. Thank you Coach Zadow for taking photos of the match today! Hugs and whistles! Gwen |
