On Thursday 9/21/06 the Brethren
Bobcats came to Portager field to take on our J. V.
Portagers.
Brethren wasted no time in scoring as they took the opening
kickoff and marched down the field and scored and 2 point
conversion was good with 7:27 left in the first quarter Brethren
8 OHS 0.Brethren scored
early in the 2nd quarter to go up 14-0 as the 2 point conversion
was no good. Onekama finally got on the score board as Dan
Gillespie scampered 69 yards for touchdown and Dan also took the
2 point conversion in to make it a 14-8 game with 6:26 left in
the 2nd quarter. |
In the 3rd quarter Dan Gillespie ran
a punt back 31 yards for a touchdown and the 2 point
conversion was good to give Onekama 16-14 lead. Brethren came
right back to score in the third quarter make the 2 point
conversion good to go up 22-16 0n the young Portagers.
With 4:13 left in the 4th quarter Chad Mallory took the hand off
from Dan Gillespie and ran it in for a touchdown to tie the
score at 22 apiece but Chad couldn't get the ball in for
the 2 point conversion and the score was a tie at 22-22.
The young Portagers put on a goal stands at the end of the game
to keep Brethren from scoring and the game ended in a 22-22 tie.
Onekama next game is Thursday on October 5 at Brethren .
