Portagers fall to Defending State Champions T.C. St. Francis 58-38 in a Well Fought Playoff Game
"They jumped on us big time," said Coach Hunter. The Gladiators socred 13 points in the first quarter. In the Second quarter, Tayler Fraly made a 75 yard touchdown. TC added 18 points and the halftime score was 31-6. Despite the score, the Portagers didn't give up. Chris Dansby scored in the 3rd quarter. Dave Gillespie made the two-point conversion. Clayton Setzer caught an 18 yard touchdown pass from Fraly. Justin Sedelmaier made the two point conversion.
The final quarter saw two more touchdowns for the Portagers. Fraly scored after a 10 yard run. Gillespie ended the game for the Portagers with a two yard touchdown run. Sedelmair made the two point conversion. Gillespie had 16 carries for 159 yards and a touchdown. Dansby had 124 yards rushing on 22 carrries and a touchdown. Setzer caught three passes for 31 yards and a touchdown. Fraly's final line was 8-14 passing for 83 yards and a touchdown..
"The kids never quit," said Coach Hunter. "They kept scrapping and fighting. We really struggled to stop them. They were just too much." For the game, Onekama finished around their season average with 431 yards of total offense. They had six regular season wins and three losses to end a great season.
