Shepherd Invitational

Bear Lake/Onekama Boys Varsity team came home with
the first place plaque by finishing 1st with 39 points!
On a very cool and windy Saturday morning October 14 our cross country teams boarded the bus at 5:30 AM, for the trip to the Shepherd Blue Jay Invitational.

The first race up in the morning at 9:00 a.m. was the JV race along with the open race.

The JV race as well as an open race was first at 9:00 AM

  • Danny Brown finished 8th with a time of 19:50 and Medalled
  • Justin Zupin finished 14th in a time of 20:20
  • Nick Schmoke  25th in a time of 21:28
     

In the open race there were a couple of Portagers running:

  • Jerry Brown finished 6th overall in a time of 19:51
  • Bonnie Brown finished 12th overall in a time of 24:18
  • Bonnie's Sister, Cindy Cole, finished 13th overall in a time of 24:31(She's a Shepherd Blue Jay)
Note: The WMD Conference Meet  that was cancelled on Thursday 10/11/06 has not been rescheduled as of today 10/14/06

The Regionals at Benzie Central on Saturday October 28th have been moved to the AFTERNOON and The Boys will run at 2:00 p.m. with the Girls to run shortly after that
In the Boys Varsity race the 2nd Ranked Bear Lake/Onekama Varsity team came home with the first place plaque by finishing 1st with 39 points, 2nd was Ithaca with 75 points, 3rd was Montabella  with 79 points and 4th was Morley Stanwood with 100 points

For our Varsity Boys:

Our Varsity girls today had 6 runners and finished 4th overall.
1st place was Morley-Stanwood 49 points, 2nd Ithaca 56 points, 3rd Beal City 64 points and 4th Bear Lake /Onekama with 70 points

Brenna just missed getting a T shirt as Shepherd gives a medal plus a Blue Jay T shirt to the top 5 finishers in the Varsity Girls and Boys race.
