April 21 Frankfort Invitational Tourney The Onekama Baseball team lost both games at the Frankfort Tournament on Saturday.  In the first game, it was Frankfort 7 Onekama 0.  In the second game it was Mason County Eastern 4 Onekama 3.  Photos
April 23 at Baldwin  4:00 The Onekama Baseball team split a doubleheader at Baldwin last night.  Game One was Onekama 9 Baldwin 3.  Game Two was Baldwin 8 Onekama 7. 
April 30 Bear Lake at Home 4:30 The Onekama Portager team opened their new field with a  pair of wins against Bear Lake.

May 12 Baldwin at Home

The Onekama baseball team improved to 10 and 6 on the season with two wins at home Saturday over Baldwin.

May 16 Pentwater at Home 4:30

The Onekama Baseball team split a doubleheader with Pentwater.  In the first game, Pentwater scored the only run of the game defeating the Portagers 1 to nothing.  Dave Gillespie pitched well and only allowed 2 hits.  In Game Two, the Portagers won by a score of 5 to 3.  Nate Griswold got the with Tayler Fraly coming in to pitch the last two innings to record the save.  Leading hitters for the game where Dave Gillespie and Joe Kosiboski with 2 hits.  Joe also drove in 2 runs with a 2 out triple in the second inning that started the Portager scoring.  Overall, Onekama now is 11 and 7 on the season and 5 and 3 in the West Michigan D League. ...Coach Neph

May 18 at MCE 4:30

The Onekama baseball team split a doubleheader at Mason County Eastern.  In Game One, it was MCE 8 Onekama 3.  Tayler Fraly and Ryan Miller each had 3 hits in the game.  Fraly had a home run as one of his hits. In Game Two, it was Onekama 8 MCE 7.  Tayler Fraly earned the win pitching 4 innings and then Dave Gillespie pitched the final two innings.  Nate Griswold and Hunter Slade had two hits to lead the Portager offense.   ...Coach Neph

May 21 Brethren at Home 4:30

The Onekama Portage Baseball team swept two games from Brethren.  In Game One, the scoring went back and forth before the Portagers scored the winning run in the bottom of the last inning to secure a 6 to 5 win.  Hunter Slade scored the winning run on a single by Jim Kosiboski.  Dave Gillespie pitched the complete game to earn the win.  Justin Sedelmaier had 2 hits to lead the offense in the first game.  In Game Two, Tayler Fraly broke open a close game with a 2-out bases loaded double to drive in 3 runs propelling the Portagers to a 14 to 4 win.  Dave Gillespie, Trevor Miller, Tayler Fraly, and Justin Sedelmaier had 2 hits each in the game.  Contributing to the Portager offense was Senior Jordan Pomeroy and Freshman Kevin O’Connor with base hits.  Catcher Hunter Slade played outstanding again tonight behind the plate!  Nate Griswold, Tayler Fraly and Jim Kosiboski combined to pitch in the second game. 

Onekama now stands at 14 and 8 on the season.  This game completes West Michigan D League action for the Portagers who finished with an 8 and 4 record in league play.  ~Coach Neph

May 25 M.C.C. at Home 4:30

The Onekama Baseball Team swept a doubleheader from Manistee Catholic Central tonight.  In Game One, Lance Osborn pitched the complete game as the Portagers prevailed by a score of 14 to 4.  Leading hitters for the game were Dave Gillespie, Justin Sedelmaier and Ryan Miller with 3 hits each, Trevor Miller and Nate Griswold with 2 hits each.  Joe Kosiboski launched the first home run at the new field tonight as he lead off the third inning with a blast over the left centerfield fence! 

In Game Two, Manistee Catholic Central came out swinging and built a 6 to 1 lead going into the bottom of the third inning.  The Portagers then rallied for 8 runs to take the lead on the way to a 12 to 6 win.  Dave Gillespie pitched the last 4 innings of the game and earned the win.   Offensively, Trevor Miller lead the attack with 4 hits and 3 runs scored.  Nate Griswold had two hits in the game. 

Tonight’s game marked the end of the home season for the baseball team and the last home game for a fantastic group of senior baseball players!  The Portager’s record improves to 16 and 8 with the victory. 

A special thank you to all the people who made the ceremony tonight at the field such a wonderful event!  The entire baseball team is so appreciative of the efforts of so many people!

May 30  at Bear Lake

The Onekama Portager’s Baseball team won one and lost one at Bear Lake today.  In Game One, the Lakers scored twice in the bottom of the last inning to win the game 3 to 2.  Leading hitters for Onekama were Dave Gillespie, Nate Griswold, Trevor Miller and Hunter Slade all with 2 hits.  In Game Two, the Portagers bounced back to win 14 to 2.  Lance Osborn, Dave Gillespie and Nate Griswold each had two hits in the game.  The Portagers finish the regular season with a 17 and 9 record. ~Coach Neph

District Tournament at Bear Lake on Saturday, June 2nd at 10:00am

The Onekama Baseball team was defeated by Bear Lake in the District Championship game 9 to 5.  The loss ends the season for the Portagers with a record of 18 and 10.  In the first game of the day, Onekama defeated Manistee Catholic Central by a score of 8 to 2.  Lance Osborn pitched an outstanding game for the Portagers to record the win. 

Thank you to all the parents that prepared food for the players at the District especially Deb and Jack Miller and Faye Miller!
