Girls’ Basketball Program Includes Popular
Future Stars Program
October 17, 2006

This year the Onekama Girls’ Basketball Program started a Future Stars Program for all girls in 2nd – 4th grades.  The program included four Saturday clinics, four high school halftime exhibition games, having a high school player as a Big Sister, receiving a t-shirt, and being highlighted in a special recognition night.  Those who participated in the Future Stars Program became an integral part of our teams, really livening up school spirit and making game nights a blast.

As we begin to pave the way for the future of Onekama Girls’ Basketball, the cooperation and support of Future Star parents and also the elementary teachers was great and is appreciated.  We are really excited about the future of Onekama Girls’ Basketball and look forward to watching these Future Stars in years to come.  Go Portagers!

The fourth grade girls were given a great opportunity to learn about the game of basketball through the Future Stars Program this year.  Not only do they show excitement for the game of basketball now that they have been part of this program, they also have a big sister in the school to look up to and watch play the game.  These young players really are the FUTURE STARS of Onekama!        ~Mrs. Bennett, 4th grade teacher
