Sat 12/3	Mancelona Invitational Away 10 am	Practice Photos The meet was cancelled due to the Frankfort Girls ball game. Yes! the girls won the Class D State Title.
Sat 12/10	Ludington Invitational Away 10 am	The Frankfort/Onekama wrestling team was in action this past weekend at the Ludington Invitational. There were teams from Allendale, Freemont, Chip Hills, West Ottawa, Hesperia, Rethes Puffer, Orchard View, Jension, Ludington, and Shelby. One of the highlights was watching the 152 lb. contest. It featured a ladies National Champion. She did well, winning last year's invitational, but came up short in the championship match. The team posted excellent results for the first wrestling meet of the year. We sent 10 individualist into action. Out of 10 wrestlers, 8 won medals. All the wrestlers had at least one win, and as Coach Pettig stated, we didn't lose a single match in the finals. Mike Cole won gold in his 171 LB division, getting all pins and one tech pin. Zack Fix got a 5th place medal, and first year wrestler, Luke Fogerty, got 3rd place. Nathan Morrill posted one win, pinning his opponent in under one minute. Coach Pettig said he was elated at the fine performance of his team, saying we're way ahead of last year's accomplishments already, but noted that more conditioning is needed. Wed 12/14	TCC w/Manton Away 6 PM	Wednesday night, we traveled to Traverse City Central to take on the Manton Rangers. The Traverse City Central "B" team, both were conference meets. Frankfort/Onekama team beat Manton but fell a little short to Traverse City Central "B" team. So right now we are 1 -1 for the year, a excellent start. Mike Cole still remains undefeated getting a forfeit and then a pin. Nathan Morrill won one, along with Luke Fogerty winning one match. Zack fix wrestled hard but came up a little short. We had 14 wrestlers there, three girls and one guy saw their first action of the year. So as I said, Friday we l eave for Rudyard. ...Morrill
Fri 12/16 not sure of date	Rudyard Bridge Brawl Away 2:30 PM	As for the Bridge Brawl, Fankfort/Onekama wrestling team was in action again. Man what a long trip that was, we represented the Lower Peninsula along with Cheybogan, Alpena, Mancelona and Charlevoix. The teams representing the Upper Peninsula were Rudyard, St. Ignance, Manistque, Norway, and Neguanee. We won two matches outright, and almost had our third. We tied but after adding up individual scores we fell short. Cheyboygan was the LP Champion. And the Lower Penisula won the tournement. Mike Cole, Luke Fogerty, Zak Fix all medaled. Fri 12/16 not sure of date	Benzie Central	Well, the past week we traveled to Benzie Central. The wrestling team did very well, they posted a win team wise against Class A Cadillac Vikings, then went up against a very strong Shelby team. We came up short against Shelby. All wrestlers that day did post a win. As coach Pettig commented, we are so far ahead of last year. We did suffer one injury, Mike Cole at the end of his match suffered some bruised ribs, he'll have a week to recover. No practice till Monday Dec 26th. We don't see any action again till Jan 5th . This will be our first home match. It starts at 6pm in Frankfort. Teams from Pine River, Gladwin and Forest Area will be there. This is a league matchup. Hope to see you there ...Paul Morrill
Thurs. 1/5	Forest Area, Pine River Gladwin Home 6 PM	Well the wrestling team was in action both wednesday and thursday this week. On wednesday we traveled to Benzie Central with Pine River showing up. We only had two wrestlers from Onekama that could wrestle due to flu. Both Michael Cole and Nathan Morrill posted wins, but the team came up a little short against the two opponents. On Thursday we had a home meet with Forest Area and Pine River B team . We wrestled very well against both teams, posting team wins against Forest Area and Pine River, Way to go Team! ...Paul Morrill
Sat 1/7	Frankfort Invitational Home 10 am	On January 7th Frankfort hosted a 10-team invitational. Frankfort finished 5th. Mike Cole got a silver medal, Zack Fix placed 5th, Nathan Morrill 6th just out of a medal placement, Luke Fogerty took a silver medal. ..Paul Morrill
Sat 1/14	Lakeview Invitational Away 9 am	On January 14th we made the 2-hour trip down to Lakeview to teams that we hadn't wrestled before with the exception of Cheboygan. Frankfort placed 4th, we were only one team win from competing in the championship round. We had seen Cheboygan wrestle Holton and felt pretty good about our chances for 3rd. But they really rose to the occasion, with Frankfort only posting only 3 wins. We wrestled very hard, with 90 percent of our losses coming from decisions, however Mike Cole once again took the silver medal, along with Luke Fogerty winning the silver medal. Frankfort had two gold medallist, Pat Rich and Tommy Johnson, along with silver earned by Sam Fitzuh. All and all we have come a long way for team wins vs. last year. I believe we have tripled the amount from last year. Still each time we wrestle a team match we give up18- 24pts right off the bat. We don't have a 275lb, 189, 103, and if anyone else is sick then we're short. Hopefully next year we can fill those spots, but for now, we go to Charlevoix this Saturday for the takedown match and then Wednesday over to Kingsley with Benzie Central also showing up. ...Paul Morrill Also read Kristin Hollenbeck's article in Benzie County Record Patriot
