Frankfort and Onekama August 31, 2005 Frankfort and Onekama go head to head again in yet another extremely close match. This year it played out at Pinecroft in Beulah. The scenery there is gorgeous, but the course ,oh ,so challenging. ( Remember last year at the Heathlands when we had them beat 2 different ways, but an error of shooting a wrong ball and not caught in time caused a DQ and a loss by 2 strokes?).This year,Our Portagers stepped up to the task at hand and turned in some awesome individual scores. Match Medalist was OHS's Jordan Pomeroy shooting a 44. Freshman Levi Capper turned in a 46! Josh Cebula scored 55 and Parker Johnson a 57 for a team score of 202. Also shooting, but not factored into the score were Todd Lyman with 58 and Drew Griswold with 61. |
While
OHS had the Match medalist and another score of 46 on
their cards, Frankfort's scoring 4 produced scores a
little tighter and pulled off a team score of 194 to edge
out OHS. Their low man, Jack Wilband shot a 46, Wiley
Heller a 47, John Bower 49 and Nolan Clement 52. Leland
does not have a team as was previously reported and were
not there today. The
Frankfort boosters fed the teams Hot dogs, beans and
dessert after the match as they did last year as well as
gave accolades to the OHS team members for their
excellent sportsmanship and behavior before, during and
after the match. The Frankfort coach wished them well
through out the rest of their season and commented on
their excellent golf abilities. Today's match now puts
the team at 2-0 in the WMD and 2-2 Overall. We are just
getting warmed up here folks! Stay tuned for further
developments of this rising stars team. Better yet, pop
on over to the Heathlands tomorrow, 9-1-05, and cheer
them on as they play Mesick. (Photos by Coach Zadow) |
