Cross Country at Mancelona
October 6th
When we got to Mancelona it was a lot more like fall: cool and cooler as the afternoon progressed with a strong cool wind blowing.

The Varsity Boys were off and running at the sound of the gun at 4:02 PM They ended up in 2nd place as DIV. 3 Habor Springs beat them by a score of 41. 2nd place was BL/OHS with a score of 54 and a nice 2nd place trophy.

Leading the pack for the Varsity boys in their overall finish was:

  • 3rd Josh Groenwald 16:53 Medal
  • 4th Nick Swisher 17:01 Medal
  • 8th Nate Milarch 17:41 Medal
  • 17th Shawn Gonyon 18:20 Medal
  • 22th John Evans 18:36 Medal
  • 34th Andy Desmarais 19:11
  • 45th Jaron Lewellyn 20:11

For the JV Boys there were only three runners today:

  • 10th Justin Zupin 20:43
  • 14th Mark Markiewicz 20:56
  • 18th Nick Schmoke 21:10
 Not sure of the overall finish for the Varsity Girls. They had five girls to run tonight:
  • 14th Shelby Sidor 22:13 Medal
  • 36th Cali Schodel 25:15
  • 39th Courtney Swisher 25:50
  • 40th Anna Veverica 26:06
  • 42nd Carmen Hayes 26:38

It looked like the Junior High Girls and Boys finished 2nd overall behind Gaylord. Crossing the finish line first for the Junior High was:

  • 1st Chuckie Schodel 11:40 Medal (Chuckie hasn't been beat this year)
  • 5th Ryan Pienta 12:32 Medal
  • 7th Danny Brown 12:38 Medal
  • 21st Bartlet Lewis 13:54
  • 22nd C.J. 13:56

For the Girls

  • 17th Katherine Schmoke 14:54 Medal
  • ? Kaitlin Matesich 15:55
