Bear Lake/Onekama Boys take 2nd at August 24th Meet

The mild breezy afternoon seemed to get warmer as the afternoon progressed, but the Bear Lake/Onekama Cross Country team opening up its Cross Country season at West Shore Community College in the Mason County Central Invitational did well coming in 2nd place.

For the Varsity Boys all 7 runners medalled as the boys took 2nd place behind Division 3 arch Rival Benzie Central. Crossing the line first for the boys was Senior Josh Groenwald in 3rd place with time of 17:56, Junior Nick Swisher was 4th with a time of 18:07, Senior Nate Milarch was 9th at 19:06, Sophomore Jordan Maxey was 16th at 19:43.

Senior Ryan Brown was 21st at 20:27, Freshman Shawn Gonyon was 26th at 21:06 and Freshman Jaron Llewellyn was 35th at 22:40.

In the Boys JV race finishing in 10th place was Junior Donovan Alkire with a time of 22:18 and the only JV runner to Medal. He was followed by Sophomore Nick Bradford in 11th place at 22:54; Freshman John Evans was 17th place at 23:23; Sophomore Mark was 18th time of 23:56th.

Junior Nick Schmoke 19th time of 24:44; Freshman Chad Mallory 20th at 24:47; and Sophomore Justin Zupin finished 26th in a time of 26:24.

Only four girls ran: not enough for a team. There were no JV runners. There runners for today were, (left to right: Freshman Shelby Sidor, Freshman Courtney Swisher, Junior Ronnie Maidens, and Freshman Anna Veverica)
