Onekama High Swept a Doubleheader from Walkerville, 9-7 and 16-10
Coach Neph's report: Game One:  Onekama 9 Walkerville 7  Matt Fredericks drove in the game winning runs in the bottom of the fifth inning with his third hit of the day as Onekama defeated Walkerville 9 to 7.  Justin Sedelamaier and Joey Mitchell scored on Frederick's hit as the Portagers came from behind twice to earn the victory.  Sedelmaier and Mitchell each had two hits in the game.  Dave Gillespie pitched all 6 innings to record the win.
 
Game Two:  Onekama 16 Walkerville 10 Joey Mitchell had 4 hits to lead the Portager offense to a 16 to 10 win in the nightcap.  Tyler Miller had 3 hits in the game, including a triple!  Dave Gillespie, Matt Fredericks, Lance Osborn and Tayler Fraly each had 2 hits.  The winning pitcher was Lance Osborn with relief help from Nate Griswold. 
 
The Portagers are now 12 and 2 on the season and 7 and 1 in the West Michigan D League.  Next game is Thursday, May 4th at home against Mason County Eastern.

Greg Gielczyk's report— Onekama High swept a doubleheader from Walkerville, 9-7 and 16-10, in a key Western Michigan D League baseball doubleheader at Onekama on Thursday.
The Portagers stayed in a tie with Brethren for first place in the league with a 7-1 record. Onekama improved to 12-2 overall.
Winning pitcher Dave Gillespie struck out nine batters in the opener.
Matt Fredericks had three hits in four at-bats, while Joey Mitchell and Justin Sedelmaier had two hits apiece for the Portagers.
Onekama trailed the Wildcats, 2-0, until the fourth inning, when the Portagers scored seven runs to take a 7-2 lead.
 

But, the Wildcats struck for five runs in the top of the fifth to tie the score, 7-7. Onekama got two runs in the bottom of the fifth, with Fredericks providing the key hit a two-run single.

Lance Osborn picked up the win in the second game.
Mitchell had four hits for the Portagers. Tyler Miller had three hits, including a bases loaded double. Also getting two hits apiece for the Portagers were Gillespie, Fredericks, Osborn and Tayler Fraly.
