Bobcat Invitational Saturday, May 7, 2005 A strong team effort coupled with some stellar individual performances pulled the Portagers to a first place finish of 128 points over a five-team field at Saturdays annual Bobcat Invitational, held at Brethren High School. Luke Allen broke an 11-year old school record in the 800 with a time of 1:58, besting Tigran Baileys old mark of 2:00. Allen also anchored his teams 1600 meter relay to a first place finish in 3:41.64, and was part of the 3200 meter relay team which finished second to Mason County Eastern with a time of 8:58.68. Junior Ryan Brown swept four first place medals in his events, and set a new junior class pole vault record of 127". Brown led the Portager hurdlers to the top three places in the 300 m intermediate hurdles, finishing first in 42.94 and chased by Jordan Maxey (placing second with a PR of 44.7) and Taylor Fraly, third in 45.73. Brown also won the 110 hurdles in 17.04, while Maxey placed third with a PR of 17.3. Team Results: Boys

Although the scoring sheets indicate first through sixth place only, several Portagers worked hard to score personal bests. Eric Maddux had a PR of 24.65 in the 100 dash, followed closely by Anthony Reedy with a 100 meter personal best of 24.68. Sophomore Taylor Fraly had a PR of 18.4 in the 110 high hurdles, and freshman Andy Allen posted a PR of 58.3 in the 400 meter run. Sophomore Nick Swisher had a PR in the discus with a throw of 101 ft. |
