Boy's Finish 5th overall and Girls 6th at the Cadillac Invitational

A conference race had already been postponed this week due to warm, wet and icy weather. The teams wondered how Mother Nature could possibly play these sort of games with the ski teams in the middle of January. They held their breath in hopes that the latest rains would not stop yet another race. Seven schools met at Caberfae for the Cadillac Invitational and bullied Mother Nature, determined to go on with the race. 40 boys from Class A through D schools competed for the 6 medals that would be handed out for each event. Charging through slushy snow Chris Smith led the team to a 5th place finish in GS with his 8th place and times of :30.43 and :30.99 Jackson Carter came in 14th with 31.87 and :30.75. Freshman David Fisher came in 21st with :32.12 and 32.40. Garret Samsal placed 27th with :35.06 and :34.14 and Jesse Ketchum finished with 37th and times of :41.02 and :38.90.

Chris went on to lead the team to a 4th place team standing in slalom with his 10th place finish and times of :25.02 and :26.78. Garrat Samsal placed 16th to help the team effort with his times of :27.34 and :28.54. Jesse Ketchum came in 27th with :33.38 and :34.71. David Fisher had some troubles on his first run gicing him a time of :54.92 , but his second run was a nice :29.71 placing him 30th. Jackson Carter with his first run time of :24.08 had him leading the team in this event, but he blew a ski on the second run giving him a DNF for the event.

The girls' team placed 6th overall at today's invitational. Dani Olson led the team with her 8th place finish in slalom and times of :27.02 and :27.67. Emily Harwell placed 17th with :32.29 and and 31:73. Monika Higley was right behind her with times of :30.87 and :34.11 fpr 18th. Kelli Waligorski placed 27th with her times of :40.22 and :38.17.

In GS, Monika Higley led the team effort with her 19th place finish and times of :35.52 and :36.80. Emily Harwell placed 24th with :38.43 and :37.48. Dani Olson had some trouble on her first run coming with a time of :43.09, but her second run was a nice :34.68 giving her 26th. Kelli Waligorksi placed 31st with consistant times of :48.14 and :48.48.

Wednesday's postponed race will be held this Friday 1-14-05 at Crystal Mt.. 5pm start time.
