OHS played in a Quad Match at Pinecroft Golf Course at Beulah today against Frankfort, Leland, and Leelanau. Playing 9 holes, Onekama won over Leelanau 205 to 220. Onekama now stands 1-1 in the league and 1-2 in non league play.
Kristie tee's off for the 9th hole at the Pinecroft Golf Course. Some of the team members as well as Kristie played the back 9 today, while other members played the front 9.
Kristie's drive ended up to the right in the trees. No problem though as she found her ball and with only one stroke was back onto the fairway.
Nathan makes his putt to complete the 9th hole with his score of 48 as a playing partner from Frankfort looks on.
winner today was Leland with 177. Frankfort finished with
186, Onekama 205 and Leelanau 220. Leland had the honors
of having the Match Medalist on their team today, that
being Matt Lichty with his score of 39. Low Man for OHS
today was Jordan Pomeroy with 47. Nathan Griswold shot
48, Todd Lyman 49 and rounding out the scoring four was
Tim Veverica with 61. Team Manager Drew shot a 59. Also
shooting for OHS today but no factor in the score was
Chris Smith with 63, Josh Cebula with 66. Stephanie shot
a 76 and Kristie a 83. The Frankfort Boosters fed all the
teams with grilled hotdogs , burgers and side dishes on
the club house deck after the match. A welcomed relaxing
time after a tough match held on a beautiful course with
some tricky holes. While the various team members from
all the teams could be heard saying how bad they did
today , one also heard good comments to complement each
other as well..." Did you see the chip he just did?!
WOW!" ....." Incredible putt Man!".....
" I parred such and such hole coach"..." I
got out in just one stroke!" " I made up for it
on the next hole"...." It missed the sand
trap!" "they aren't going far, but they are
going straight." So, while today may have not been
their best individual scoring to date, there were good
things that happened as well. Until next match...hit them
long and straight!
Wiley Heller of Frankfort holds the flag for Jordan as he makes his putt and completes his 9 holes for the day. (Wiley has been on OHS's ski team for a few years.) Jordan's putt was a fabulous long putt that rode right over the top of the cup from my angle of view. His playing partners all wanted to give that one to him, but Jordan being the honest player he is, knew he must take one more putt and sink it..and that he did for a final score of 47 making him Low Man for OHS today!
No crickets, no birds, no wind....Josh putts to finish out the 7th hole as a playing partner from Frankfort looks on.
