Cross Country October 23, 2004

It was a windy and very wet day at Elk Rapids and temperature was in the low 50's as the runners ran on a golf course right next to a bay of water. The wind was strong and blowing right into their face. It was mostly upper division schools here today.

Next Saturday they will be at Benzie for Regionls to see who goes to State Finals the following weekend November 6

Five girls ran today. They were first to run and were out at the shot of the official's gun right at 9:00 a.m. and right into the wind.

Overall finish for the girls was

68th Ashley Zupin 25:28,
76th Carmen Hayes 26:12

Team results for the girls was

1st place Petosky 40 points,
2nd Host School Elk Rapids 61,
3rd Charlevoix 75 points
9th overall BL/0HS/MCC GIRLS Finished with 268 points.

Varsity boys overall finish:

9th place Josh Groenwald 16:59 Medal,
19th Nick Swisher 17:25 Medal,
44th Luke Allen 18:02,
56th Ryan Brown, 18:26
59th Nate Milarch 18:30,
60th Jordan Maxey 18:33, and
67th Eric Maddox 18:46

Team Results for the boys are finishing in

1st place Harbor Spring 56 points,
2nd Traverse City West 92 points,
3rd Traverse City Central 104 points and the
8th BL/0HS boys with 187 points out of 16 teams and most were upper division schools

For the JV boys no times but

Andy Desmarias finished 2nd overall got a medal
Nick Sidor finished in the top 30 and got a Medal
The rest of the boys were Jordon Wilson, Donovan Alkire, Nick Bradford, Justin Zupin, Josh Vertalka and Matt Fredericks all finished strong as Tuesday will be their last race for most of thes runners.

Tuesday the Cross County teams will travel to Gaylord for their Final Invitational of the season.
