Pine River Invitational

The Cross Country team traveled to Pine River for their October 2nd Invitational. It was a cool wind morning, but there was no snow, rain or sleet as Pine River is well know to have snow on their Invitational.

The Varsity girls were decked out in their new printed up Red Hooded sweatshirts that says on the back, "It's belief in ourselves that helps us take flight", had five members this morning. At 9:00 a.m. they were off at the sound of the officials gun. Overall the BL/OHS/MCC girls finished in 4th place out of 13 teams there and most of them were division 3 and above.

  • 1st was Benzie Central 36 points
  • 2nd Manton 90 points,
  • 3rd Pine River 104 points
  • 4th BL/OHS/MCC with 111 points

Leading the way for the girls was

  • 9th Jackie Bladzik 22:35 Medal,
  • 17th Ronnie Maiden 23:23 Medal,
  • 20th Ashley Zupin 23:44 Medal,
  • 33rd Caman Hayes 25:14 and
  • 58th Cali Schodel.

Main Cross Country Page

For the Varsity Boys at Pine River out of 13 teams they finished in 4th place also again most of the schools were division 3 and above.

  • 1st was Benzie Central 69 points
  • 2nd Mason County Central 87 points
  • 3rd Kalkaska 88 points and
  • 4th BL/OHS with 112 points.

Overall finish for the boys was

  • 7th Josh Groenwald 17:22 Medal,
  • 11th Nick Swisher 17:42 Medal,
  • 27th Jordan Maxey 18:33 Medal,
  • 32nd Ryan Brown 18:43,
  • 38th Luke Allen 19:02,
  • 39th Eric Maddox 19:03
  • 47th Nick Sidor 19:22

In the Junior Varsity race there was no team event just medals to the top 25 finishers. Leading the way for the BL/OHS boys was

  • 2nd place Nate Milarch 18:56 Medal,
  • 6th Andy Desmarais 19:21 Medal,
  • 9th Jordan Wilson 20:39 Medal,
  • 13th Justin Zupin 21:12 PR and his first Medal of the year
  • 14th Nick Bradford 21:19 Medal
  • 34th Matt Fredricks 28:08

They put the Jr. High boys and girls together for team event.

  • 1st The BL/OHS teams came in first and brought home the 1st place trophy with 31 points,
  • 2nd Kingsley with 43 points a
  • 3rd was Kalkaska with 96 points

They also had mostly upper division teams to compete against they medaled down top 15 places for boys and girls.

Leading the way for the Junior High team in overall finish was

  • 4th Jaron Llewellyn 12:52 Medal,
  • 5th Chad Miller 12:53 Medal,
  • 6th John Evans 12:59 Medal,
  • 16th Curtis Edwards 13:43,
  • 46th Shelby Sidor and 7th for girls 15:37 Medal,
  • 47th Courtney Swisher 8th for girls 15:41 Medal,
  • 48th Anna Veverica 9th for girls 15:44 Medal,
  • 61st Mallory Mattson 15th for girls 17:09 Medal,
  • 64th Katilyn Matesich 17:46 18th for the girls
  • 74th Molly Yaple 20:41 23rd for the girls

Congratulation Junior High on your 1st place finish.

Also they had an open race at the end were anybody can run in and Kelly, her sister Lindsay and her dad Dennis and Brian Allen. Anthony Torres also ran in and I believe I took some pictures.
