March 5-6
2004 MHSAA Girls Volleyball Districts
Onekama plays Bear Lake 3-6-04 @ 10am
Coach King pulled up 4 JVs for today's District Tourney. Over the years, Coach King has brought his team up from the lower rankings, after a rough season, to win the District Championship. It was possible again. "They just weren't with it today", commented Coach King. The Portagers lost to Bear Lake 7-15 and 12-15 in a two set match. MCC was ousted out by Frankfort in the next game , pitting Frankfort and Bear Lake against each other for the Championship Title. Frankfort had already won the first set of this match as I was leaving...
Sportsmanship was abundant upon my arrival to the tourney though. The championship match was already in full swing, and as our Lady Portagers left the gym, in Unison I heard them shout a , "Good Luck Bear Lake Lakers!", their earlier opponent.
Game Photographs
Coach King has led his teams to 3 District Championships in the last 5 years in itself. I have no doubt that OHS will win it again in the future! There is a lot of talent this year in the JV lineup coming up that will bolster the Varsity next year. Thank you, Gwen (reporter)
