September 26, 2003

Onekama 48, Forest Area 28

Onekama took an early lead and had 20 points in the first quarter alone. By half time they had the lead easily with a score of 48-8!

The Portagers get on the bus with hopes of winning this game. The rain started to fall promptly at 5pm, just as the weatherman predicted. Would it hold off over at Forest Area or make it a slippery wet game?

Chris Nadjowski gets on the bus confident of a win this time.

Quarter Back Dustin Thomas looks back at me with confidence written all over his face.

When we arrived at Forest Area school, we were greeted by Mrs. Taylor who urged the team to hurry as the game was to start at 7pm..not 7:30 pm as was originally thought. The team scrambles for their gear that was in the suburban. Should the team be late...it is a 15-yard penalty right off the bat. The portagers hit the field and within minutes had the first touchdown.

Coach Taylor as a heart to heart with one of our portagers.

# 62 Mike Fredricks, # 19 Dan McElreath and # 25 Joe Catanese are all smiles about the Varsity score of 48 -8 over Forest Area in the first half. The game ended with a score of 48 - 28 in favor of Onekama, with the JV playing the last half of the game.

Pat seems VERY pleased with the game tonight!

A few minutes left before half time, the cold rain picked up it's torment on the fans, cheerleaders and teams. Nothing seems to dampen the OHS Cheerleaders spirits as they continue to keep the crowd and team pumped!

These fans wouldn't sit in the pouring cold rain and wind for just anyone. They are the PORTAGERS!

With a happy smirk on his face, Coach Hunter talks with one of the team members about a play. He seemed quite pleased with the way the game was going. After the half, the JV took over the game play for the Portagers, with 2nd and even third strings getting action of the field.

Chris Smith comes off the field as the JV take over for the last half. He was pumped about how the game was going, he wanted to get back out there again.

JV Jim got to see quite a bit of playing time tonight!

The excitement and momentum builds as we witness some awesome tackles from our JV Team.

Coach calls up the JV Kick Team for the next kick. They listened closely to his instructions and were eager to hit the field.
