Onekama WINS the D-4

The Portagers Boys beat Brethren in a 7-2 victory for the championship held at Rietz Park after they knocked off Freesoil earlier in the day. Dan McElreath struck out 16 batters with his fast balls and only gave up two hits. He dominated the game and smashed a line drive home run that cleared the fence in left field to give Onekama a 1-0 lead. The team fielded the ball well when it was hit, but they didn't have to field a lot in this game. Our team came to play and that they did! Brett Cronkhite has improved as catcher. Tom GIllespie had 2 hits and Cronkhite drove in a key base hit. Matt Fredericks scored twice. The Portagers now move on to Regional play at Mason County Eastern's St Mary's Field against Lake Leelanau St Mary in the second game of the day.
