The race against Glen Lake which was postponed
due to Sugar Loaf not opening was finally held at Crystal
Mtn tonight. No wind, good snow and temperatures
made for a good race. Glen Lake is a fast team ,but OHS
kept them hopping. The boys team finished 2nd overall
taking 4th ,7th,10th, 11th, 14th and 15th
placings while Glen Lake took the 1st, 2nd,5th, 8th,9th
and 18th places in Slalom. Bellaire team grabbed a couple
good placings from Glen
Lake also with 3rd, 6th and the remainder of 12th, 13th
and 16th. Ben LaDuke's combined time of :47.86 put him in
the 4th spot. Chris Smith's combined time of :49.67 gave
him 7th. Travis Berklund came in 10th with :54.99. Tom
Meoak placed 11th with 1:05.79. Ben Momber had a small
hike on his first run ,but his second run of :26.15 for a
combined time of 1:12.98
put him in 14th. Alex Harris had :20.04 on his first run
and :47.16 on his second run putting him in 15th.
In the Boys GS, Ben LaDuke grabbed 3rd
place with a combined time of :36.57.Travis Berklund took
the 10th spot with his time of:39.94. Ben Momber was
right on Travis's heels with his combined time of :39.97
for 11th. Chris took the 12th place with :41.74, Alex
Harris 13th 44:18 and Tom Meoak 14th, :44.81. Glen Lake
took the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th placings, while
Bellaire claimed 6th, 9th, 15th, 16th and 17th places,
putting OHS squarely in 2nd place for the race.
Girls GS put Kaylie Mathieu in 4th with
her combined time of :40.18, Kelli Hopwood 7th :41.46 and
Charlotte Kalbach 10th with :43.25. Caitlin Brooks would
have to settle for 13th with her combined time of :46.62
and Amanda Redder 16th with 1:02.05. Glen Lake won the GS
race with Bellaire 2nd.
Girls Slalom once again put Kaylie
Mathieu in 3rd with a time of :27.11 first run and :26.91
second run for a combined time of :54.02. Charlotte
Kalbach came in 7th with 1:00.47, Kelli Hopwood 11th with
1:06.38, Amanda Redder 16th with 1:22.43 and Caitlin
Brooks 17th with 1:24.64. Bellaire won the Girls slalom
race with Glen Lake second and OHS coming in 3rd. It
should be noted that the girls team lost Erica Jach early
on in the race due to a fall, forcing her to spend the
majority of the race in the med shack. I'm sure this may
have been on the girls team mind as they continued on
with the race, and I have no doubt that it impacted the
outcome of the race as she is a consistant scorer for the
team. Erica will be fine, with only some scrapes and
bruises and is gearing for Regionals which will be held
2-14-02 at Crystal Mtn.
