Ski Team: Feb. 4

Ben LaDuke, Kaylie Mathieu, Caitlin Brooks bring home medals from the Manistee Invitational held at Crystal Mtn.

The team warms up, gets a bite to eat and discuss their successes or failures while waiting to hear the race results.

Ben LaDuke did what he could to hold the Boys team on the right track today by winning a 7th place medal in Slalom and 6th place medal in GS. But the team just had too many hikes and a couple of DQ's to make up for overall. In GS Ben LaDuke came in 6th with a combined time of 36.09. Ben Momber stepped up and nailed 15th with 37.31, Travis Berklund 21st with 37.83, Tom Meoak 38th with 43.67, Chris Smith 46.35 after a hike on his second run. Jackson Dq'd on his second run. It should be noted that both Chris and Jackson had excellent first runs with Chris at 18.29 and Jackson 18.36.

In Slalom,Ben LaDuke took the 7th place medal with his times of 25.90 first run and 25.70 on his second ,for a combined time of 51.60. Travis Berklund kept it steady and came down for 23rd with a combined time of 57.89. The next 3 placings for the boys were because of hikes either in their first run or second run, but it is better to hike and finish than to DNF! So the boys tough it out for team standings and Jackson comes in 34th with a combined time of 67.06, Ben Momber 40th with 82.24, Chris Smith 41 with 94.34. Alex Harris DQ'd on his second run.

2/05/02 will be the make-up race against Glen Lake at Crystal Mtn, not the originally scheduled Final Conference Meet. Race starts at 5pm. The Onekama hosted Final Conference Race will be held after Regionals.

Good Job for hanging in there for the team, Boys. Congratulations, Girls Team, on 3rd overall. Congratulations on your medals, Ben, Kaylie, and Caitlin!
