As the
season ends, the team must sadly say goodbye,to seniors
Ben Momber of BearLake and Ben LaDuke of Onekama. Both
Ben's are captains for the boy's team this year and will
be missed next year.

This concludes
the race season for the OHS ski teams.The team Awards
Banquet will be held "soon", where there are
plaques to be awarded for Most Valuable, Most Improved,
Captains Plaques and various other awards. The Ed Johnson
Invitational for the managers/middle school will be held
2/27/02 at Crystal Mtn. Come cheer on your managers as
they have worked hard this year!

Girls GS:
Caitlin Brooks proved to be the fastest OHS girl member
tonight coming in with a combined time of :38.85 for 5th
place in the Giant Slalom race. Kaylie Mathieu finished
with her combined time of :39.86 for 12th place just
under the medals. The 10th place medalist's combined time
was :39.63. Now that's close! Kelli Hopwood raced down
for a combined time of :40.07 taking 13th place.
Charlette Kalbach grabbed 22nd with :45.41 and Amanda
Redder took 25th with 1:06.50. The girls team raced
tonight short one team member for both races.
Girls Slalom:
Kaylie Mathieu was the fastest OHS girls racer in slalom
tonight with her combined time of :52.23 taking the 6th
spot. Caitlin Brooks grabbed 9th with :52.67, and Kelli
Hopwood was right on her heels with :56.10 for 10th
place. Charlette Kalbach raced down for a combined time
of 1:01.57 for 19th and Amanda Redder took 25th with her
time of 1:25.64. Had the team had their 6th
racer tonight they could have finished 3rd overall.
Boys GS:
Ben LaDuke was once again the fastest OHS boys racer
coming in 8th place with his combined time of :36.67.
Travis Berklund had excellent runs with :19.24
first run and :18.78 second run for a combine time of
:38.02 placing him 17th. Chris Smith claims he got caught
up in the slush, but managed to pull off a combined time
of 39.40 for 19th place. Ben Momber placed 20th with his
combined time of :39.86, while Alex Harris placed 25th
with :41.33. Tom Meoak still feeling "under the
weather" took 27th with his combined time of :44.43.
Boys Slalom:
Ben LaDuke finished just under the medals in the slalom
race with his combined time of :49.42 for 13th place
proving yet again to be OHS's fastest boy member. Chris
Smith finished 16th with :51.68, Travis Berklund 17th
with :52.16. Ben Momber came in 19th with :53.82. Alex
Harris grabbed 24th with :57.15 and Tom Meoak 25th with
1:03.29. Jackson Carter broke his collar bone just days
before Regionals and has not been able to race in the
last couple of races.
