The team celebrates Ben Momber's and Caitlin Brooks birthdays! Amanda Redder & Charlotte Kalbach, Frankfort members of the girls team, and manager Danielle from OHS waiting for the awards ceremony to start. >From a spectators view point it was a beautiful day with the exception of the wind in the afternoon! Lot's of sun and warm temperatures in the morning made for a pleasant day at the ski meet, unless you were a competitor. The sun ,wind and warm temps played havoc with the course conditions as each minute ticked by.... Boys GS: Ben LaDuke produced the fastest OHS boy's time in GS with his :17.88 first run and :18.92 second run for a combined time of :36.80 putting him in 19th place. Chris Smith had a personal best GS run today time wise with :17.95 first run and :19.29 second run for a combined time of :37.24 for 25th place. Travis Berklund came down with :19.05 and :19.58 for a combined time of :38.63 for 40th. Alex Harris :19.37 and :20.53 for his combined time of :39.90 putting him in 52nd. Even with Tom Meoak being sick ,he raced down for :22.06 and :22.36 for a combined effort of :44.42 for 64th. Ben Momber had a slight hike on his first run giving him :33.85, but his second run came in at :20.13 giving him 74th. Boys Slalom: With the course rapidly deteriorating in the warm temperatures and high winds, Ben LaDuke raced down with 28.97 first run and :28.08 second run for a combined time of :57.05 taking 16th place. Travis Berklund came down with :30.83 and :29.16 for a combined time of :59.99 for 25th place. Chris Smith got shot off course and jumped right back in there for a first run of :34.85. His second run was :28.91 putting him in 33rd with his combined time of 1:03.76. Alex Harris nailed 36th place with :33.04 and :31.71, Ben Momber had to hike on his first run giving him :41.28, but his second run proved to be a good one with 29.61 giving him 45th. Tom Meoak came in 52nd with his runs of :39.23 and :37.63. There were A LOT of tight races against teams and individuals at today's race as you can see by the times and scores. The team should feel proud of their individual successes and how they work toward team goals and standings! You have made your schools proud OHS, Frankfort and BearLake! Ski Team Schedule 11/18/01

Girls Team Takes 6th place overall
and the Boys place 8th overall at Regionals. Girls GS / Boys GS 1st Benzie 31 / 1st Maple
City/GlenLake 40 Girls Slalom / Boys Slalom Tied 1st Manistee 53 1st
Maple City/ GlenLake 21 Girls Slalom: So close to the medals and a bid to State we could all taste it, Kaylie Mathieu came down with a combined time of :55.51 for 13th place just out of the medalists. With hearts still pounding , Caitlin Brooks races down for a combined time of :55.76 for 16th. Kelli Hopwood races down for a combined effort of :59.68 for 33rd. Charlette Kalbach came in 51st and Amanda Redder took 68th. The course claimed Erica Jach on her first run taking her out of contention in the slalom race. Girls GS: Kaylie Mathieu Placed 16th with her time of 19:00 first run and :19.65 second run for a combined time of :38.65 making her the fastest OHS girls' racer in the GS event. Caitlin Brooks was right behind her placing 17th with a first run of :18.95 and a second run of :19.78 for a combined effort of :38.73. Placing 22nd was Kelli Hopwood with :19.17 & :19.88 for a combined time of :39.05. As if that wasn't a close enough race, Erica Jach shot down the hill on her first run with a time of :19.10. Erica's second run came in at :20.12 for a combined effort of :39.22 putting her in the 24th spot. Amanda Redder clutched onto the 72nd spot with her combined time of 1:02.70. The course claimed Charlette Kalbach giving her a DQ.
