Social Studies Update - Grades 3,4,5

During the month of October we will be studying the values and principles of American democracy and the role of the citizen in American democracy.  We will culminate the study with a  U.S. Presidential student mock election on  Thursday, Nov. 1.

 

Goals for 4th and 5th graders will be to:

  1. Describe the purposes of government as identified in the Preamble of the Constitution

  2. Describe the organizational structure of the federal government (legislative, judicial, and executive)

  3. Explain and identify the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.

 

Goals for 3rd graders will be to:

  1. Explain why people from governments

  2. Distinguish between government action and private action

  3. Identify ways in which citizens can participate in government.
